Still View - Work Experience

Researching some more into work experience, I started to look for places that are closer to home. I came across a photography studio who is is based in Ipswich, who photograph people to interiors for magazines. Looking through their photographs they are creatively composed presenting objects, people and food as a lure for magazines. The photographs are all taken in colour which would accentuate the magazine gloss style for promotion of the products.
I like the look of this company a lot, they look professional and state the companies that they work for with on their website. I think I could learn a lot from the company in terms of other jobs I could go into after university, thinking about photographing products for magazines.
I have contacted the company through email and hope to be hearing back from them in the next few days. I have not heard anything else from the previous companies that I have contacted in regards to work experience. I am hoping that this studio will be different, although with them being locally it would be easier for me to get in contact with them different ways.

Work Expereince at More Magazine

I have sent off an application for work experience at more magazine, based in London. They gave me an application which I also added a short covering letter with, just to state that I am a student from the university. Luckily I have been reading the magazine for a couple of years now so I have a little incite to the magazine; which is what half of the questions covered. Although they asked me about which area I would be interested in I was required to know about the magazine as a whole. Further research on the magazine and they way they work will be required if I do end up with a chance at having work experience with them. Hopefully I will be hearing from them soon, to know if I have a chance.

Contact infomation updated

I've added in my email address so that people can contact me, its an email address that I made before making this website; I am unsure now whether I will get an email with the website once I start paying. If I do I think I will have to buy one of the larger packs for the website build, if so I wont be able to make my domain my own until during the easter holiday; because of the expenses. Although for now I feel that I have an appropriate email address that is professional enough to fill in the gap before being able to have my own.

Updating my website with Situated Practice

Today I finally got around to scanning in my situated practice model. The quality after scanning are not great especially being the file size of jpeg; but overall I happy that they are finally on show. When writing about the work and what it was about, I included my collaborator and explained about how the drawings were her creation. I am pleased with my final images now that I have seen that the outcome has shown perfectly what I was trying to explain within my first ideas; especially with the help of my collaborator who really brought home the ideal that I was trying to portray.
My website is finally coming together well and has three sets of work displayed now, narrative, situated practice and the wedding that I did last summer 2012. There is a connection between my narrative and situated and the wedding shows my other interests within photography; along with another job that I have done.
Updating from my work experience hunt, I still have not had a reply from the photographer who I contacted about helping out with a wedding. It has only been a few days, so I hope to hear by the end of next week; Gome photography seems to be a respectable busy business. This may require me to follow up with an phone call, just to check that my email went through.

Connie Days Website

Looking through Days website, it is easy to navigate through the photographs and through the categories of photographs. There are grids of photographs spread out onto two pages, set within a category set. The images are blown up in size when clicked on, with the writing underneath the imagery; stating the title and date.
The background of the website is black, so the pictures that are on white background stand out to the viewer. Looking through each different website most websites have white backgrounds when they have dark or colourful photos. Although this website has a dark background so that the white background photos stand out against the dark background.
Days website has all about her exhibits as well as a biography about herself and her work, giving an insight to her fans to her working life style. I think this works well on a website because the viewer then becomes more connected with the photographer and the work.
Overall I would say this is a successful website because of the simple layout and simple choice of colour to excentuate the photographs.

Research-Gome Photography

Reseach into Gome Photography

1) different styles that he does for clients
2) the creative style that he creates for clients is the main reason I fell in love with Gomes work; the difference that he creates instead of basic images.
3) environments that are fairytale based/fantasy related as weddings are meant to be magical.
4) dedicated to the clients and what they want.
5) research into the site and how he portrays himself to his clients.

In regards to website building, I would take this website as an example also because of the simplicity and honesty that the photographer portrays. Telling the clients what he gains from photo shoots, what he likes in photographs as well as all about himself on the site. Before people employ him to photograph their wedding they know everything about him before phoning. The client would then trust the photographer more for their own wedding, along with the back up of reviews from other happy couple clients. This is because he has laid his cards on the table before their official meeting. The website has at the bottom of the pages labelled contact and about with a contact form; a quick and easy way for clients to tell him what they need from him and a price.
The simplicity of the website layout is easy to use, the photographs in the sections are in grids as well as enlargements of each photographs once clicked onto. Which allows the viewer to look at all the images as a whole but also as a single photograph. The honesty of the website is something that I will consider for my website, if I choose to have my website based as a selling point.

Website Update

Updating my website to add more wedding photographs that I took over the Summer of 2012. I uploaded these images because of the love that the couple have, I like them more than just a documentation of their wedding day. Researching into other wedding photographers such as London Wedding Photographer|Gomes Photography. Looking through his photographs they are completely different from the stereotypical, normal images; this are classed as wedding photographs.
Since looking further into his work I have grown to like his work even more, because of the difference that he takes on clients wedding day; the fantasy based environments provide more to the photographs. With the growing interest within his work I am beginning to consider asking him if I could possibly work with him over summer; for valuable work experience, in a topic that interests me as well as a different take on 'normal' images. My next steps will be to get into contact with Gomes Photography to see if they would be able to take me on for work experience, after doing research into the company and photographer; so I know all about what the company strive for.

William Eggleston Website Research

Looking at Eggleston's website I have looked up the site on my phone, to see how the layout differs from a laptop or tablet. The layout works well and the images are clear to see even if they are at a small size. The only problem being that you have to zoom in to read any of the writing on the front page; I think I would want my site to be clear on all forms, if possible. His website as an overall is very easy to use and clear in regards to where to look for each piece of work. His work is also grouped together when you look at the images, I like the way this flows because you end up looking the images together; as he wanted them. instead of looking at them separately, although the option is there if chosen; because of the freedom by being able to zoom in on the images. Although my website will have low resolution images, I would want to make sure that you can zoom in on my images to be able to see my images clearly; especially if there is small detail.

Congratulations!

Even though I had real trouble with Wix, and I got really confused; I persevered with the site and finally got my site up and running. I have chosen just to keep the site as the free version for now, just while I am in the progress of uploading more photographs; along with sorting out other details such as email addresses.
The images that I have uploaded so far are my narrative brief, along with photographs from a wedding I did last year; located in lifestyle. I also put onto the site a few images from a promo shoot I did for a friend last year who is trying to become a Gym Model. I feel happy that I have my website up and running, I feel more motivated to get my work up and on the site asap; wanting to show more.
My website needs alot of work but the start is the beginning to making it better, with the more work I do the more I can upload and update my website. All the research that I have done on Photographer's websites are updated along with the work that they create throughout the year; keeping people updated and interested in their work. This is something that I aspire to when creating my website because this is where I believe photographers keep their fans updated and interested.

Website Building.

I'm finding wix confusing to understand as its not very clear in terms of telling you prices or what they can offer you in a package. The other sites are clear on what they are trying to sell you, along with telling you what you will have when buying a certain package. They just follow through and dont tell you anything till you sign up and start making your website. Although I really do like the design on the right hand side of the cut that I have taken from the website; I think this is what I will want my website to look like.
Working through the website I started creating my website although I dont understand why the payment is being brought up in dollars. The confusion of the site has be questioning the safety of making the website and paying for the use of my domain.
After creating the site so far I have decided to leave it for today and look at it tomorrow with a fresh mind, because of the constant stress of trying to get the site sorted; I feel that I am overlooking the obvious answers. Although overall I have decided that this is the website to go with, once I understand it properly.

Work experience - Annie Leibowitz

Over the past couple of modules Annie Leibowitz has been a real inspiration to me and my work, as I love the work she creates in regards to fairy tales and non-reality. Such extravagant scenes and sets that create photography that looks as if its been taken from a dream, this is the work that I personally would like to create in further years of my photography.
In regards to work experience I started researching for Annie Leibowitz to see about getting work experience with her, although on my travels I came across a website/blogg from an intern who was about to work with her team. I started my research here to see what to expect from such an big photographer, what the intern would entail if I was lucky enough to get anywhere close to working with or for her team.
The second photograph is from his follow up post about how good the experience was along with how nice Leibowitz was to him in regards to being a new becoming photographer. Reading through this blog, has made me want to stretch further in regards to getting a good work placement; going the extra mile for a better experience. In regards to reading this blogg I am now currently rewriting my Vogue application, writing an email draft to send to Leibowitz; hoping for the same luck as this intern.

Narrative Project.

My first brief - Narrative.
Choosing an email I created this piece of work from a H&M email advertising a new clothing line that was coming out in the next month (Jan 2013). The email allowed me to work with fairytales because of the unrealistic image that advertised the clothing line, fairytales being my topic of interest to work with.
I named each of the photographs after a piece of clothing that was taken from the H&M catalogue for spring 2013, the catalogue names represented the email in terms of fashion; although I recreated a fashion through fairytales.
These photographs will be my first images that will be put onto my website. I hope to keep the same theme with all my photographs that I will upload, the consistency of images will show where my interests lye. Although I will add other photographs of different briefs and interests to show the broadness of my photography.

MoonFruit - template examples

These are three templates that I liked the most of the site. They are clear with photographs although I would worrying with the surfing template due to a photograph being behind my other photographs. The one with the woman sat down is probably my favourite because it has a clearer background for my images to be displayed on.

MoonFruit Website Maker - Research

Looking into MoonFruit the first thing that is brought up with the site is the pricing. They have three prices that can be paid monthly or annually, with lots of different themes and designs you can choose. The difference being standard, plus and max, the main difference being the storage space that you have within the site. The picture below shows the three categories that you can choose from, the lowest price being £15.

The site is also really good in terms of in case you need help. There is a help guide that allows you to download PDFs to read and find out what you can do with the help you need. The questions that are most frequently asked can be found within this guide, which is helpful with knowing that there is an outcome to needed help.

Terms and conditions are found below in the images. The piece that I print screened is the first statements that are told to the user before making the website with them. The only problem, is that you have to go find the information yourself. Although the terms and conditions are clear and not that hard to find, if wanted to.

I will consider using this website maker because it is clear and easy to use and follow. This is what I need when making such a complicated website, in terms of work load uploading.
