My website URL currently is the bottom link with square space but the URL im trying to connect is the top link. Although UK2 have not replied to me in regards to connecting them both, which is very annoying; so currently my URL is @squarespace. 

I have ordered business cards with the top URL but I have not retrieved them so in terms of giving them out I dont have to worry about my website not matching the url.

Ren Love Photography - New Website!

I have now re-created my website on square space as it is a much better layout and alot easier to use. I have added two series of work, narrative and situated practice; so that I have two sets to begin with before adding any of the wedding photography that I did over the summer of july last year.
The images are big which is what I like because then all the detail in the drawings are clearly seen on the screen. I have also put them onto a slide show so that the three images are seen than just the one, especially if there happens to be any problems with clicking to the next image; the slide show will do that for the viewer.

Changing from ClikPic to Square Space.

I tried to use ClikPic but they are to confusing to understand, I am unable to work with the website easily. So I have been recommended to try out Square space which give you a trial of 2 weeks but the price will be £60 per year. I will sacrifice an extra £20 if I am confident I can use the website effectively.  Hopefully this website builder will be alot more useful to me to make an effective cheap website with my own domain name.

Changing my website from Wix to Clicpic

When I looked into the pricing of my website again I went through the process and they added £12 VAT which made making my website alot more expensive. I researched briefly again and went through my blog again and found clikpic, which is £40 a year for the basic package. Which is alot better than wix and their basic package.

So I decided to take a two week trial with clikpic to see if they are better than wix when creating the website as well as the price.

Wedding Photography Research

I started to look in to other wedding photographers that I could gain work experience from, hoping that there is one closer to home that I would be lucky enough with. I did a general search online for fantasy/fairytale based photographers, to know how many people in the world consider themselves to be categorical within this theme. I found a few people who create images based on faiytales but most of the photographers created the work a few years back and haven't really continued since. One of the photographers I found was from USA and doesnt look to have done any weddings for a least a few years but has kept a blog and site up and running continuously anyway. The photographer is called Nashville, the images of the weddings I have chosen are beneath.


The photographs that she takes are different from Gome's work in regards to the way that she uses the environment to create the fairytale more, while Gome enhances the environments. The photography is inspiring so simple but the edge of the fantasy is still clearly there to be its theme, the way that she photographs as well makes the work that much more interesting to the eye. Showing once again that there is a business out there for this type of work.

Researching again in the UK this time for Fairytale Wedding Photographers led me to this website

The work that I found on her blog and website are focused on the couple and the way they are portrayed in a fairytale way but also capturing their perfect day along with all the events that happened within it.



I will send this photographer a email asking about work experience and express the love I have for fairytale photography and the way that her work has shown me that I can bring my own flare into wedding photography. I will explain why I am asking for work experience along with where I am from (UCS) to see if there is any chance that I will be able to gain at least one day of work experience with herself.

Looking into the wedding photography that I have has showed me that there is a market for my photography that I enjoy; but there is also a market for it within weddings which I also enjoy photographing. Just with researching these three wedding photographers that I have I am able to see that there is a select few out there who do photograph weddings in such a themed way but there is also room for one more.

“My wife and I began planning our wedding in about April 2012 and by June we were in a position where we had our date booked with the Chapel and with our reception venue and so began looking around for a photographer to capture the events of the day.

Because we had decided to get married in December and in a chapel that had no electricity we were concerned that the lighting level within the chapel would be very low and so looked for a photographer who was equipped to deal with these conditions.  Our other main consideration was that we did not want the usual 60 picture album that most wedding photographers offer.  Instead we wanted a DVD containing all of the images that were taken throughout the day.

In June we began talking to a few photographers who we had mainly found on the internet.  Iain was very quick to respond to my emails and was keen to meet us to discuss our needs in person and so we arranged a time and date where he came to our house.  On our first meeting Iain appeared to be very professional and answered all of our questions fully and confidently.  We felt comfortable talking to him and decided quite soon after he left the house that we wanted to use him to photograph our wedding day.

Our second meeting with Iain was in November, a couple of weeks before our wedding day.  We met him at our chapel and then took him to the reception venue so as to show him both locations and to discuss his and our ideas for pictures.  Iain was very excited about the locations that we had chosen and very enthusiastic about the ideas he was having for potential photos.  Joanne had been looking on the internet at arty wedding photos and so had several ideas of her own that she wanted Iain to try and capture on the day.  Some of Joanne’s ideas where quite unconventional but Iain was very keen to try them out as well as offering his own take on what she was asking.  We left the second meeting feeling extremely happy with our choice of photographer and very confident that we were going to get some great pictures.

Our wedding day was on the 7^th December 2012 and it was a very wet and windy day.  Iain arrived first at our house and began taking pictures with Joanne and her wedding party straight away.  During the ceremony Iain remained at the front of the chapel and took some great pictures of both us and our guests.  Following the ceremony we decided that it was too cold and windy to ask the guests to stand outside and so Iain came up with some ideas for group shots within the chapel and with Joanne and I alone around the chapel grounds.  Iain was very good at adapting his ideas and techniques to fit with the changing weather conditions on the day.

Once we arrived at the reception venue Iain helped us arrange some more group photos within the venue itself, he also came up with some great ideas for staged shots of Joanne and I, some of which involved Iain getting very cold and quite wet.  Throughout the day Iain blended in with our guests really well.  He was so un-intrusive and friendly that most people didn’t even realise he was there for the most part.

To me Iain is a very professional and very talented photographer.  When he wasn’t taking photos he was thinking about interesting photo opportunities and when he had one he would come running over to us, really excited and tell us to follow him.  Iain is very passionate and excited about his ideas and about his trade and this really carries through in the images that he produces.

We are both so incredibly happy with our choice to use Iain as our wedding photographer and are simply amazed at some of the beautiful images he produced for us.”

Essex Wedding – December 2012

Reading through all the comments he receives makes me realize that there is a business out there that you can create fantasy photography in a wedding scenario. Gome has showed me that there is an audience for people who want this type of photography, his photographs are loved by all his clients. This client tab is the one I thought was most telling because they describe the meetings and day he did for them. Having the client section where people have written review for him will let him show further clients what he is about and how happy people are with the work he creates as well as the way he works to.

Closing a day from now

This is the work experience that I have just applied for through GoThinkBig.co.uk. The website has loads of work experience offers all over the country and is easy for applying as well. When signing up you have to upload your cv and photographs that you have taken in regards to the experience that you apply for, but overall I would say this website helped me out alot. Especially with having a light at the end of the tunnel with somewhere to look in regards to work experience.  Hopefully I will hear back from the people who run the organisation, if not there is a contact email that I can enquire about specific work experience.

Making a domain name and claiming it for 4 years.

I brought my domain name for my website ready for my upgrade for my wix website next week, so when I upgrade my website to be my own instead of wix I will have my own name in the bar. I will hopefully hear back from UK2 in the next couple of days to confirm my order, for now though I know that renlove.co.uk is now mine.

Work Experience

I am yet to hear back from any of the people that I have emailed about a work experience placement. I will begin to research on the best methods to ask/enquire about work experience. If there is a best way to set out an email with enquiring. I believe that if I try out a different method to my emails I may have a better approach, instead of sending a email that does not sound professional. I would prefer to have a decent email to then follow up with a phone call with, to achieve this I will research and look into the best way to enquire and layout a professional email. With doing so I hope that I will then receive a reply from one of my work experiences placements that I have chosen to contact.
No luck just of yet, but I will continue to search for the appropriate placement over summer.
